Hi, so I've been setting up a proper storage system at my small business for the past month and one thing I keep going back and forth on is whether to get crates with lids or just go with open top ones across the board. We store a mix of product samples, stationery, small equipment and some items that genuinely need to be kept dust free because we're in an area where sand gets into everything if you leave it uncovered for more than a few days. A business contact of mine who runs a similar operation told me he regretted going with open crates initially because after six months everything on the lower shelves had a layer of dust on it and some of the more sensitive items had to be replaced which ended up costing more than the lids would have in the first place. That story stuck with me so I started looking more seriously into lidded options and while browsing through crateco.ae I came across the 6040 series lid option which seemed designed specifically to work with that crate size rather than being a generic afterthought that doesn't quite fit properly, which is something I've experienced before with cheaper brands where the lid sits loosely and basically provides zero actual protection. What I'm trying to understand is whether the lid adds meaningful structural rigidity when you're stacking multiple crates on top of each other because I've read conflicting things online about whether stacking with lids is better or worse than without. I'm also wondering if there's a ventilation consideration for certain types of stored items because I've heard that completely sealed storage in a warm environment can sometimes cause its own problems depending on what's inside. Would really appreciate practical input from anyone who's used lidded crates in a small business or warehouse setting in the UAE specifically because the climate here changes the equation quite a bit compared.
